At 74, Barbra Streisand’s “the gift that keeps on giving,” according to W.
The legendary singer-actress appears on the cover of the magazine’s December issue sitting cross-legged, perched on a stool in nothing but a men’s white dress shirt, a black tie, sheer tights, and her own Jimmy Choo pumps. Shot by famed photographer Steven Meisel, the stunning image proves that the triple threat (Streisand’s won a number of awards, and is a certified EGOT, having taken home an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar, and a Tony) is still a very relevant force to be reckoned with.
In a second shot, she again posed in the shirt as dress and no pants look, one that’s favored by young “it” girls such as Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid. This time she wore an Escada trench coat, a Preston & Olivia hat, fishnet stockings, a camisole, and thigh-high Jimmy Choo boots. The magazine called her the “original fashion risk-taker.”

In the issue, the Broadway star discusses everything from the sold-out stadium tour she is currently on in support her 35th studio album, Encores: Movie Partners Sing Broadway, to how she sings only if it’s for “a purpose.”
Seeing as Streisand has been extremely vocal on her passion for women’s rights and her frustration with the wage gap in Hollywood, it comes as no surprise that she also enjoys playing strong women in films. “It’s a more interesting part to play! Strong women are, simply, women with opinions. And they have always been treated with suspicion,” she said.

One of her directorial projects also stemmed from her feminism. “The last movie I directed was The Mirror Has Two Faces, and one of the reasons I took the job was because she got the guy at the end,” Streisand admitted. The 1996 romantic drama not only allowed her to pursue one of her career-centric passions, but it also led her to her husband, James Brolin. “I thought, Hmm, I’ve been alone too long. I think I’ll do this movie, and then, in real life, I also got the guy at the end! I wound up getting married. In a sense, I believe you can manifest your reality,” she revealed. “My husband and I were set up on a blind date. I met him at a dinner and expected a bearded mountain-man type, and he had cut off all his hair and was clean-shaven.” She added that she thinks he fell in love with her when she asked him, “Who screwed up your hair?” Streisand said, “He later told me that’s when he fell in love with me. My fella likes to hear the truth, which is unusual.”
