Shun acts that’ll breed disunity, Delta govt tells NLC

ASABA—Special Adviser on Labour Matters to the Delta State Governor, Mr Mike Okeme advised the leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, against acts that would breed disunity and acrimony among its members.
Okeme when he played host to the state leadership of the NLC led by its chairman, Mr David Ofoeyeno, acknowledged the continued struggle of the NLC for a renewed workers’ welfare and good governance.
He restated the commitment of the state government to the prompt payment of workers’ salaries in the state civil service and enjoined the union to always explore peaceful dialogue instead of being confrontational in its agitations.
Restating the resolve of the Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s administration to work maximally to make the labour movement successful, he said that the state government had put machineries in place to support labour aspirations in the state.
Appealing to NLC to be one united family, he said; “Always use dialogue to get what you want from the government of the day instead of confrontation.
“The union is expected to be a one united family, so while you struggle for better welfare package for workers and good governance, don’t do anything that will bring shame to your state and the government because peace is better than war.”
